Lenses
A variety of lenses is crucial for capturing different perspectives and styles of shots. Here are my favorite lenses for travel blogging:
Sony FE 28MM F/2 is my choice for sweeping landscapes and architecture shots. It’s also great for vlogging and capturing immersive travel videos.
Sony FE 85MM F/1.8 is my go to portrait lens when I want to capture those dreamy bokeh-filled portraits and details. It’s incredibly sharp and ideal for capturing the essence of a destination.
Drone
To add a different dimension to our travel content, we rely heavily on drone. We have always been using the DJI Mavic Pro 2, however recently we switched to the newer DJI Air 3. It is our go to drone, due to its compact size, impressive image quality, and intelligent flight modes.
Gimbal Stabilizer
Steady shots are a must for professional-looking travel videos. We use the DJI Ronin-SC gimbal stabilizer, which provides smooth and cinematic footage even when I’m on the move. It’s especially useful for capturing dynamic scenes and eliminating shaky shots.
Action camera
For adventurous activities like hiking, snorkeling, or biking, an action camera is essential. The GoPro HERO series, in our case, the HERO11 Black, is waterproof, and capable of capturing high-quality 4K footage. It’s perfect for documenting adrenaline-pumping experiences, but also for vlogging. We use the creator edition which comes with an extra mic and light.
Accessories
Apart from the core gear, we also carry a range of essential accessories, such as:
Extra batteries: because you don’t want to miss the action. Especially with the GoPro batteries which do not have a long battery life, an extra battery comes in handy.
SD Cards: We usually go for SanDisk, because they turn out te be very reliable and fast. They have different sizes in memory.
External SSD: Travel blogging often involves capturing a vast amount of high-resolution photos and 4K video footage. To ensure we never run out of storage space or risk losing precious content, we carry an external SSD. We always use the the T7 series of Samung as they are very compact. We prefer SSDs because they are more rugged and reliable than traditional hard drives, which can be sensitive to bumps and jolts during our travels.
Camerabag: One often overlooked but crucial accessory for travel bloggers is the camera bag. Our camera bag is like our trusty sidekick on every adventure, and choosing the right one can make a significant difference in how smoothly our trips go. We have been using the Lowepro tactic 450 AW ii, as it can hold most of our gear safely.
